Installation
In developmentPrepare a self-hosted installation and choose the right products.
Before installing
All products are In development. There is no approved public release documented here yet. Do not treat a source revision or milestone tag as an installable release. Wait for an approved package and its matching installation instructions before using personal data.
Alexandria provides shared book intelligence. Stache Server holds your personal library and reading state. Stache for iOS and Android are clients for Stache. Choose the server and clients you need; a mobile client is not a replacement for Stache Server.
Prepare your environment
- Reserve storage for server data, attached files and separate backups.
- Choose a server address your clients can reach. Plan HTTPS before exposing a server outside your local network.
- Keep service credentials private and separate from public configuration.
- Record the operating system and the product versions you intend to install.
Runtime versions, installation commands, container images and supported platforms must come from the approved release's instructions. This guide does not prescribe unapproved packages.
After an approved installation
Confirm each required service starts, complete the release's setup procedure, and check that an unauthenticated visitor cannot access private library data. Try a small disposable library before importing personal files. Read configuration, mobile setup and backup and recovery before relying on the installation.
