Code of conduct

Expectations for respectful, inclusive participation and handling concerns.

Our expectations

Treat participants with respect, including people with different backgrounds, identities, abilities, and levels of experience. Give constructive feedback, assume questions are asked in good faith, and respect boundaries and requests to stop.

Focus criticism on proposals and behavior. Do not harass, threaten, discriminate, use sexualized language toward others, publish private information, or repeatedly disrupt discussions. These expectations apply to project discussions, issues, reviews, and other project community spaces.

Reporting a concern

Do not post another person's private information or sensitive evidence in public. Contact a maintainer privately using a contact method they have explicitly published on GitHub. Include the relevant links, what happened, and any immediate safety concern; share only what is necessary. A dedicated conduct-reporting contact has not yet been published.

If a private contact is unavailable, avoid posting sensitive details and step away from the interaction. Suspected software vulnerabilities use the separate security process.

Maintainer response

Maintainers review concerns with respect for privacy, limit unnecessary sharing, and may request clarification. Depending on the behavior, they may remove content, give a warning, restrict participation, or exclude a participant. A person involved in a concern should ask another maintainer to review it where possible.

For reconsideration, provide new context privately to a maintainer who was not involved where possible. Donations do not affect enforcement or decisions. See governance and the Free Always pledge.
