Governance

How community feedback, maintainer review, and protected commitments guide the project.

Decisions and participation

Athenaeum coordinates Alexandria and Stache. Community feedback is gathered through GitHub discussions, issues, and reactions. Maintainers review proposals for project fit, feasibility, privacy, accessibility, and compatibility. The project owner approves changes to protected commitments.

Votes inform discussion; they do not bind decisions, buy influence, or promise a delivery date. Maintainers may ask for more evidence, narrow a proposal, defer it, or decline it. Public decisions should explain the outcome without exposing private deliberations or sensitive reports.

Protected Free Always commitment

The Free Always pledge rules out paid editions, feature paywalls, subscriptions, advertising, sale of user data, and a hosted commercial tier. Its meaning cannot be weakened or materially changed without an approved architecture decision record and explicit owner approval.

Voluntary donations do not unlock features, priority, influence, promotion, recognition, or preferential treatment. Sponsorships and paid promotional arrangements are not accepted.

Public information

All products remain In development. The roadmap contains only selected milestones approved for public sharing. A completed milestone does not approve a public release. Approved packages and release notes appear on downloads and releases.

The source-code license remains undecided; see license. Community participation follows the code of conduct, and vulnerability reports follow security guidance.
